Regular Town Board Meeting of

LONG LOST LAKE TOWNSHIP

September 12, 2006

 

Present:

Dave Johnson – Supervisor , Jon Jennings – Supervisor,  Greg Scherzer – Supervisor,  Dick Toomey – Treasurer, Marv  Mortenson- Clerk

 

1.  Meeting was called to order by Supervisor Johnson at 8:05 pm.

 

2.  Motion to dispense with the reading of the minutes; approve the minutes of the last meeting as written. Motion by Johnson, second by Scherzer – passed 3-0

               

3.  Treasurer report: 

--Cash Balance of $22,686.57

--Invested Balance of $25,086.01

--Total  Balance of $47,769.58

Motion to approve Treasurer’s report by Scherzer, second by Johnson – passed 3-0

 

4. Claims for Payment:

                --$357.00 to Clearwater County for road blading

                --$57.20 to Farmers Independent for township ads

Motion to authorize the treasurer to pay these bills by Johnson, second by Jennings – passed 3-0

 

5.  Old Business:

                -- Dick Kimball, Supervisor of Trails & Waterways, will recommend the public access be upgraded next summer (2007).  He will present working drawings to the LLL Township board for review.

                -- A letter of acceptance was sent to Mr. Ingalls for brushing of township roads.  The brushing is to be done this fall (2006).

                -- The supervisors discussed the need for road signs on township roads, such as curves & speed limit.  No action was taken at this time.

                -- The need for a place of posting was discussed. Johnson & Scherzer will work on a temporary posting board.

                -- Concern was expressed about the slope of the road bed on McKenzie where the road was widened and the culvert extended.  The board will wait to see how the road stands up this winter and in the spring before taking further action.

 

6. New Business:

                -- The yearly Mileage Certification letter was received from the County Hwy. Dept.. The mileage is correct. The certification was signed and the town clerk instructed to forward to the Hwy. Dept.. Motion by Scherzer, second by Jennings – passed 3-0

-- Supervisor Johnson sent a letter to the county auditor on Aug. 17th  listing LLL townships 6 possible judges.  Four of these judges did the training and served at the Sept. 12th primary.  This action was approved by the Supervisors. Motion by Johnson, second by Scherzer – passed 3-0

-- Motion by Johnson to pay Election Judges at a rate of $5.25 per hour failed for lack of a second.

-- Election Judges will be paid at a rate of $6.00 per hour.  Motion by Jennings, second by Scherzer –  Jennings, Scherzer  - yes;   Johnson – no;  Passed 2-1

                -- Head Judge, Becky Bergerson will keep a list of hours served by all judges and submit this to the clerk after the November general election.

                -- Supervisor Scherzer was asked by two lake residents to have the town board discuss issues concerning ATV use within the township and on township roads; also, the possibility of the LLL Township joining the Hubbard County Townships in a joint action.  After much discussion it was apparent there was not enough information available.  The discussions will continue as new information is available.

               

 

7.  Motion for adjournment at 9:30 PM was made by Jennings, second by Johnson – Passed 3-0
