Regular Town Board Meeting of
LONG LOST LAKE TOWNSHIP
December 12, 2007
Present: Dave Johnson, Supervisor -- Dick Toomey, Treasurer -- Marv Mortenson , Cleck -- Ardell Johnson, Supervisor.
Absent: Greg Scherzer, Supervisor
1. Meeting was called to order by Supervisor Dave Johnson at 7:00 pm.
2. Additions to the agenda were called for.
No additions, motion to approve agenda, Dave Johnson, second A. Johnson – passed 2-0
3. Motion to dispense with the reading of the minutes; approve the minutes of the last regular meeting as
written. Motion by Dave Johnson, second by A. Johnson – passed 2-0
4. Treasurer report:
-- Cash Balance of $14,837.06
-- Invested Balance of $46,582.84
-- Total Balance of $61,719.90
Motion to approve Treasurer’s report by Dave Johnson, second by A. Johnson– passed 2-0
5. Claims for payment:
None this month
6. Old Business:
A. Meeting dates: Discussion of board meeting dates for 2008 resulted in some changes. A motion to approve meeting dates with changes as discussed, made by A. Johnson, second by Dave Johnson – passed 2-0
B. Board of Audit meeting is set for Feb. 12th, 2008 at 7:00 PM prior to the regular board meeting.
C. Public Access: Chairmen Dave Johnson traveled to Bemidji to meet with DNR representatives concerning the Public Lake Access on Long Lost Lake. Chairmen D. Johnson received an email on Dec. 7th from Tony Walters stating they would look at the access next spring when the snow is gone. He also stated that this project was “on the priority list”.
E. Annual Meeting: Dave Johnson, Dick Toomey and Marv Mortenson will schedule a working meeting to prepare information packets for the annual meeting.
Packet will include:
Minutes of 2007 meeting
Year end financial report 2007
Proposed budget for 2009
7. New Business:
A. Noxious Weed Report: Was completed by G. Scherzer, indicating the $937.45 was spent on weed control in 2007. The report will be mailed to the county environmental office.
B. Notice of Variance Application: With the limited information the board has concerning this request it is difficult to make a firm decision. However, in general, the approval of this variance could put the board in a position of conflict with land owners. Dave Johnson will try to get more information. He will write a letter of opposition to the variance. The board will have representation at the meeting on January 2, 2008
