BOARD OF AUDIT

February 9, 2010

 

Present:  Dave Johnson, Supervisor -- Greg Scherzer, Supervisor -- Ardell Johnson, Supervisor, -- Dick Toomey, Treasurer -- Marv Mortenson, Clerk

 

The Board of Audit was called to order at 7:00 pm.  The board reviewed the treasurer’s year -end report for 2009.

Motion to approve the 2009 audit report and file it with the State Department was made by Scherzer, second by D. Johnson – passed 3-0.

 

Regular Town Board Meeting of

LONG LOST LAKE TOWNSHIP

February 9, 2010

                                               

Present:  Dave Johnson, Supervisor -- Greg Scherzer, Supervisor -- Ardell Johnson, Supervisor, -- Dick Toomey, Treasurer -- Marv Mortenson, Clerk

 

1.  Meeting was called to order by Supervisor Dave Johnson at 7:15 PM.

 

2.  Additions to the agenda were called for:

Add to Old Business:  C. Sanding of Big Hill    

Add to New Business: E. Stop sign on Chimney Rd and #39 and snowmobile traffic in Rice Township

      Motion to approve the agenda made by D. Johnson, second by Scherzer – passed 3-0

 

3.  Reading of the Minutes

Motion to dispense with the reading of the minutes and to approve the minutes of the last regular meeting as written. Motion by Scherzer, second by D. Johnson – passed 3-0

               

4. Treasurer report:           

                -- Cash Balance of                $11,585.43

                -- Invested Balance of         $43,927.89

                -- Total Balance of                $55,513.32

Motion to approve Treasurer’s report by Scherzer, second by A. Johnson – passed 3-0

 

5. Claims for payment:

               

-- $150.00     Clearwater County Highway Dept.

                -- $282.43     MAT Dues

Motion to approve payment of claims by Scherzer, second by D. Johnson – passed 3-0

 

6. Old Business:

 

A.      Budget for 2011: Supervisors reviewed the proposed budget for 2011.  After discussion and clarification the motion to approve the budget was made my Scherzer, seconded by D. Johnson  -- passed 3-0

 

B.        Miscellaneous: 

-       -          D. Johnson and D. Toomey attended the Clearwater County Township meeting in January.  The county engineer Dan Sauve was present and discussed traffic sign responsibilities, ownership and inspection. Dan Hecht, from the county environmental office, was present and reviewed some of the septic system regulation changes. Stephen Green, the MAT District 12 representative, was present.

-       -          D. Johnson visited with Allen Paulson concerning having a combined polling place.  Mr. Paulson will contact Itasca Township and if they have no objections he will take care of the details.

C.       Sanding of Big Hill: A. Johnson will contact Mitch Shegrud concerning sanding of Big Hill.  If he has the equipment and the price is reasonable, A. Johnson is authorized to contract his services but is to sand only if contacted by one of the town supervisors.  Motion by Scherzer, second by A. Johnson – Passed 3-0.

7.   New Business:

 

A.  A road inspection tour will be conducted prior to the next board meeting.  It is scheduled for Monday, April 19th at 5:30 pm, weather permitting. Should rescheduling be necessary this can be done without notice.

 

B.   The fire contract should be coming in early March and need payment prior to the board’s next meeting.  The treasurer is authorized to make this payment or hold payment if the contract appears out of order. Motion by Scherzer, second by A. Johnson – passed 3-0

 

 C.  A draft document of the information to be handed out at the Annual Township meeting was presented and reviewed the board.  This included agenda, audit, proposed budget and road work schedule.  There are a couple of corrections that need to be made and the document can be printed.

D.       Miscellaneous:

                     - Reviewed the dates of the MAT short course.

                     - D. Toomey indicated that the stop sign on Chimney Rd at the junction of #39 is bent and no longer readable.  This is a county stop sign. D. Johnson will notify the county.

                     - D. Toomey showed the board a public notice in the Farmers Independent that stated that Rice Township would not be held responsible for snowmobile accidents on any of the township roads in said township.

C.  Review Spring Short Course (If anyone attended)
