Regular Town Board Meeting of

LONG LOST LAKE TOWNSHIP

May 8, 2007

 

Present:

Dave Johnson –  Supervisor, Dick Toomey – Treasurer, Marv Mortenson -  Cleck -Greg Scherzer - Supervisor

Absent:  Jon Jennings – Supervisor

 

1.  Meeting was called to order by Supervisor Johnson at 7:00 pm.

 

2.  Additions to the agenda were called for.

                -- New Business: road grading

Motion to approve the agenda by Johnson second by Scherzer – passed 2-0

 

3.  Motion to dispense with the reading of the minutes; approve the minutes of the last regular meeting as

                written.        Motion by Johnson, second by Scherzer – passed 2-0

               

4. Treasurer report:   

                -- Cash Balance of $27,080.31

                -- Invested Balance of $35,714.58

                -- Total Balance of $62,794.89

Motion to approve Treasurer’s report by Scherzer, second by Johnson– passed 2-0

 

5. Claims for payment:

                $82.50 to Clearwater County for snow removal

Motion to approve payment, Johnson, second by Scherzer – passed 2-0

 

6. Old Business:

A. Blake Peterson was unable to attend. The board will meet with Mr. Peterson on Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at 7:00 PM.

 

B.  Lindgren Backhoe Service will be awarded the two road projects. Ditching on Big Hill Rd and ditching on Seaberg Rd. 

Motion to approve Lindgren Backhoe Service made by Johnson, second by Scherzer – passed 2-0

 

C. Chair Dave Johnson will send a letter to the landowners adjacent to the Seaberg Rd project informing them of the project approval and starting date.  The landowners are Ardell Johnson, Bob Silkett and Peggy Siltberg.  Trees that need to be removed are property of the landowner. The landowner may take possession of the tree or the contractor will dispose of said trees.

               

D.  The letter concerning the dogs on the Peninsula will be completed for the June meeting.

 

                                                                               

7.  New Business:

A.  Clearwater County Township’s Meeting reviewed the need and plans for spraying of noxious weeds.

 

B.  Road Grading:  Chairmen David Johnson will call the county and request they start monthly grading of the township roads.

 

8.  Meeting is suspended and will reconvene on May 15, 2007 at 7:00 PM.  We will meet at the intersection of Big Hill Rd and County 39.

 

               

 

9. Meeting reconvened on May 15th at 7:02 PM on Big Hill Rd.

10. Old Business:

Reviewed road sides with Blake Peterson of Clearwater County Weed Control, to determine spraying needs for weed control. Spotted nap weed was prevalent along township roads and in adjacent gravel pits under county control.  Thistle was found in excessive quantities on county tree plantations.  Mr. Peterson will discuss spraying of the gravel pits and the tree plantation.  There was discussion about the best methods, best chemical and time frame for controlling weeds on our township roads.

 

Motion was made by Johnson to use the chemical 2-4 D to spray the township right of way (approximately 15 ft) for control of weeds and brush, in early to mid June.  Second by Scherzer – Passed 2-0

 

Motion was made by Johnson to establish a committee with the purpose of finding a contractor to spray township roads. The committee is authorized to spend up to $2,500.00 for spraying. 

Committee members: Dave Johnson, Dick Toomey and Marv Mortenson.

 

11.  The board drove to the site on Seaberg Rd to review the plans for roadwork that is to be done.

Supervisor Johnson gave an overview of the project.

               

12.  Motion to adjourn by Scherzer, second by Johnson. Passed 2-0
