Regular Town Board Meeting of

LONG LOST LAKE TOWNSHIP

November 6th, 2008

Board of Canvass

Present:  Dave Johnson, Supervisor -- Greg Scherzer, Supervisor, Ardell Johnson, Supervisor -- Dick Toomey, Treasurer – Marv Mortenson, Clerk                 

 

1.  Meeting was called to order by Supervisor Dave Johnson at 7:10 PM.

 

2. A summary report of election results, prepared by the clerk and presented to the board, shows that Ardell Johnson, Greg Scherzer and Marv Mortenson were elected by the town residents to serve the township. (See attached summary)   Motion was made by D. Johnson to authorize the issuing of election certificates. Second by G. Scherzer – passed 3-0.

 

3. Motion to adjourn the Board of Canvass meeting was made by D. Johnson, second by G. Scherzer – passed 3-0.    Adjourn at 7:10 pm.

2.  Additions to the agenda were called for:

                New Business: C. Road damage caused by loggers

                                           D.  Sign at the “chimney”

                                           E.  Township property evaluation

                Motion to approve the agenda made by G. Scherzer, second D. Johnson – passed 3-0.

 

3.  Dispense with the reading of the minutes; approved the minutes of the last regular meeting as

written was made by G. Scherzer, second by A. Johnson passed 3 -0.

               

4. Treasurer report:               

                -- Cash Balance of                 $  5,564.76

                -- Invested Balance of                 $42,678.90

                -- Total Balance of                 $48,334.02

Motion to approve Treasurer’s report by G. Scherzer, second by A. Johnson– passed 3-0.

 

5. Claims for payment:

-- Election Judges                    $985.12

                -- Farmers Independent                         $  78.20

                -- Clearwater Co. Hwy Dept.                $629.29

Motion to approve payment of bills by Greg Scherzer, second by A. Johnson – passed 3-0.

               

6. Old Business:

A.  Mr. Hetland responded by email as to why the amounts of chemicals for this year’s road spraying were different than last year’s.  He offered to meet with the board next spring to help assess our needs for further weed and brush control.  The board will take this up again at the April 2009 meeting.

 

7.  New Business:

                A.  D. Johnson Reviewed the issues of the Clearwater County Township Meeting of 10/28/08.

- In future elections we would like the township to work together to consolidate similar election notifications placed in the paper. 

- A Federal mandate to evaluate and inventory township traffic signs. This has a four year lead time attached to it.

                               

                B.  Sign Inventory.

- A Federal mandate to evaluate and inventory township traffic signs. This has a four year lead time attached to it.  The board will look at this again at the June 2009 meeting.

 

 

C. Road Damage caused by loggers.  A letter to Mr. Bruce Cox, Land Commissioner and a copy to Mr. Dean Newland, County Commissioner will be prepared and sent. (See Attached Letter)

 

D.  Sign at the “Chimney”.  There was a concern about Logging trucks parked at the “Chimney” and blocking access. There was a suggestion made to place a sign there that stated “No overnight parking or camping.”  It was decided that the “Chimney” project has been a Long Lost Lake Association project and the board should leave it in their hands.

 

E. The treasurer reported that the taxable property evaluation for the township for next year is $12,909,300.00

 

8.  Next Board Meeting:  December 9th, agenda Items:

                A. Board Meeting Calendar for 2009

                B. Look at next year’s budget

                C. Annual weed report should be due

                D. Hopefully, a response for Mr. Bruce Cox, Land Commissioner

 

               

Motion to adjourn was made my G. Scherzer, second D. Johnson,  passed 3-0; time 8:20 p.m.
